To add another domain to your account at Polar55, you need to set it up as an addon domain.
Tip: Does your domain include special characters like ö or ä? See instructions below the video.
Here's our video guide showing you how to add another domain to your account:
Add-on domains are additional domain spaces for your web hosting package. They allow you to have multiple websites on the same account.
To add an add-on domain, you first need to open cPanel. You do this by logging into your control panel and then going to cPanel.
Once you are logged in, you should do the following:
- Scroll down to the "Domains" section and click on "Domains".
- Click on the "Create Domain" button and fill in your new domain name.
- Pay attention to the document root. If you want the domain to have its own website, you should uncheck under "Share document root..."
- The fields that appear when you uncheck are pre-filled, and you should just leave them as they are.
- Click "Create"
Now you have added the domain to your account, and you can upload files to it in the specified document root for your add-on domain.
You can also install WordPress on the domain. Do this by using our 1-click installation, where after you have clicked "install" you select your new domain from the list under "Location". Here we recommend that you choose to install WordPress on the domain with HTTPS and without www, for example, https://yourdomain.dk
You can also choose to use www, but it is rare that this is used any longer for web addresses.
Domains with special characters
The internet handles characters like a and ö in a unique way (learn more here).
If your domain contains these characters, you need to enter the domain in "punycode" format. Although it might sound technical, it's straightforward. You can use this tool.
For example, obersülzen.de becomes xn--oberslzen-u9a.com. If obersülzen.de were your domain, you would enter xn--oberslzen-u9a.com as the addon domain.
